Senior Master Sergeant AMANDA D. CALDERON

Senior Master Sgt. Amanda D. Calderon is the First Sergeant for the IG Brown Training and Education Center located at McGhee Tyson Air National Guard Base in Louisville, Tennessee. In this role, she reports directly to the Commander to ensure a mission ready force and is responsible for the health, morale, welfare, and conduct of all assigned staff and students. Senior Calderon is the chief advisor concerning more than 80 full-time active duty Air Force, Air National Guard, and Air Force Reserve Command staff and more than 11,000 in-residence Air Force, sister service, and international students who attend Enlisted Professional Military Education and Professional Continuing Education virtually and on campus each year. Her responsibilities include guidance on performance reports, awards, decorations, family care, and other actions affecting the health of the force. She monitors compliance with Air Force standards, advises staff and students on leadership, military bearing, self-improvement, and self-discipline, and acts to resolve problems and complaints at the lowest level.

Calderon entered the Air Force in August 2003. Following Basic Military Training, she attended the Materiel Management Apprentice Course at Lackland Air Force Base in September 2003. She spent the following 10 years in the materiel management career field excelling in a variety of roles including Mission Capable (MICAP), MH-53 Readiness Spares Kit supervisor, Storage and Issue supervisor, and Mobility supervisor. She was also selected to deploy three times in direct support of Operations IRAQI FREEDOM and ENDURING FREEDOM. As an Emergency Management journeyman, she excelled in roles such as Emergency Management supervisor and Chemical Biological Radiological Nuclear and High-Yield Explosives (CBRNE) Training noncommissioned officer. Prior to her current position, the Senior Master Sergeant was the First Sergeant, 173d Maintenance Group, Kingsley Field, Klamath Falls, Oregon.
