An electronic sign welcomes drivers to McGhee Tyson Air National Guard Base in East Tennessee. The base's and airport's McGhee Tyson name honor Navy Lt. j.g. Charles McGhee Tyson who was assigned in the U.S. Naval Reserve Flying Corps during World War I. The Drosendahl Memorial stone, recently relocated on the running track at the Air National Guard's I.G. Brown Training and Education Center in East Tennessee, was dedicated by graduates of the Academy of Military Science in memory of Air Force 2nd Lt. Robert H. Drosendahl, a 1972 AMS graduate and a New Jersey Air National Guard officer who died in service to the nation.
