Early assembly

MCGHEE TYSON AIR NATIONAL GUARD BASE, Tenn. – More than 120 officer candidates assemble for an early, unknown event. The Academy of Military Science (AMS) opened its doors April 12, 1971 as the Officer Preparatory Academy. It was renamed in 1973. Accreditation granted in 1986 was retroactive to the school’s inception with three semester hours in Management-Leadership and Communications and one semester hour in Defense Studies.
