The I.G. Brown Training and Education center officially became listed on May 22 as an educational institution on LinkedIn, a professional networking service that connects employers with prospective employees.

“Groups on LinkedIn are a powerful, underestimated tool,” according to Duke University’s career center. “While it can at times be difficult to contact a specific person, if you are in the same group, you can send them a direct message by searching through the list of group members.”

TEC hosts more than 4,000 total force students annually, bringing together service members from all around the world. During their time here, students not only learn professional military education, they also have a chance to hone their leadership and personal development skills. Adding TEC to their educational LinkedIn history gives them the opportunity to make connections and stay connected.

“This may be helpful to those staff, faculty, and students who have a LinkedIn profile and wish to list TEC under their ‘Experience’ or ‘Education’ listings,” said U.S. Air Force Master Sgt. Mike Smith, public affairs manager for TEC.

Presently, TEC’s LinkedIn page has basic information, with an overview, public website link, and contact information. Social media newsfeed will continue to be posted primarily through the center’s Facebook and Twitter accounts.
