Spruance display
MCGHEE TYSON AIR NATIONAL GUARD BASE, Tenn. – Memorabilia of U.S. Air National Guard Brig. Gen. William W. Spruance is displayed in the atrium of Spruance Hall here at the I.G. Brown Training and Education Center. The lighter is emblazed with the shield of the Delaware Air National Guard, of which Spruance is credited as a charter member who helped establish the organization. He was named the first assistant adjutant general for air, Delaware National Guard, with the rank of brigadier general, in 1956, and retired from that post in 1976.
