The Drosendahl Memorial stone, recently relocated on the running track at the Air National Guard's I.G. Brown Training and Education Center in East Tennessee, was dedicated by graduates of the Academy of Military Science in memory of Air Force 2nd Lt. Robert H. Drosendahl, a 1972 AMS graduate and a New Jersey Air National Guard officer who died in service to the nation. Retired Chief Master Sgt. George Vitzthum stands with the building in his name at the time of its 2015 dedication. The dormitory first opened in 1993 and began major renovations in 2016. Chief Vitzthum was part of the first leadership school and officer preparatory academy staff who then served as the second Commandant. He also instructed NCO academy. Chief Vitzthum helped develop much of the primary curriculum and contributed to the first college credits being awarded for EPME in the Air Force, among other accomplishments.

The Air National Guard's I.G. Brown Training and Education Center mixed-use facility, Buildings 418, 414A-B, scheduled to be named Craig R. McKinley Hall, is a 46,871 square foot classroom and dormitory facility for training and education at McGhee Tyson Air National Guard Base in east Tennessee. The facility was constructed from August 2014 to January 2017. Gen. Craig R. McKinley is the 26th Chief of the National Guard Bureau, its first four-star general and member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Faculty and staff assigned to the Air National Guard’s I.G. Brown Training and Education Center in East Tennessee formed ranks during a retreat ceremony with others at the Class 17-4 NCO Academy graduation May 16, 2017. Military retreat ceremonies pay respect to the Flag when it is lowered at the end of a duty day and can include group formation, bugle call, salute and flag folding, among other traditions. TEC service members recite the Airman’s Creed at the end of their flag ceremonies. TEC includes the Air Force’s largest enlisted professional military education center, which educates thousands of active duty, National Guard, Reserve Command and international students every year. A classroom building at the I.G. Brown Training and Education Center in East Tennessee is named after Col. Edmund C. Morrisey. Colonel Morrisey is TEC’s first Commandant and Commander.
