MCGHEE TYSON AIR NATIONAL GUARD BASE, Tenn. – U.S. Army Lt. Gen. Emmett Walker, Jr., Chief of the National Guard Bureau, 1982-1986, speaks at the I.G. Brown Training and Education Center during a visit. Walker, who was a Bronze Star and Silver Star recipient from World War II, worked with the late Rep. G.V. “Sonny” Montgomery crafting the Montgomery G.I. Bill and was the Guard’s second three-star Chief, died in 2007. Top ranking Defense leaders continue to visit and inspire students at the Center.
